News & Press ReleasesVoting register growing daily
The Government's electoral registration officer says voter numbers are growing daily. Stephen Carse has hit back at criticism from some politicians that 10,000 fewer residents have registered to vote in November than for the last election in 2001. He told Energy FM the fall was expected as the register was started afresh this year due to new processing software being installed. Despite widespread publicity about the need to return registration forms many householders have failed to send them in and just 250 out of a possible 1200 16 and 17 year olds have signed up. Mr Carse said people have until October 6th to check whether their name is present on the electoral role and to register if necessary. Energy FM News News Feed
